The 2016 Summer Reading Program

The Muskingum County Library System announces the 2016 Summer Reading Program will start in a matter of weeks.
Registration for the annual reading program will begin June 11th at all six locations and runs through Saturday, August 6th. Assistant Director, Blair Tom said they are building the experience as a summer experience so it will extend throughout the entire summer.
"Summer readers will have journals where they can record what they discovered what they create, what they experience, what they learned and what they read. We have discovery tables throughout the summer where children can make art activities and engage in science projects," said Tom.
Tom said this summer they’re going to pilot a few pop-up programs for the kids to discover a hobby or to get engaged in a new activity.
"We want to work with partners in schools and also families to keep children actively engaged, their curiosity working and their discovery growing," said Tom.
The summer reading program is split into two groups of children kindergarten to 5th and 6th through 12th and is free to the public.
