CASS Camp Starts up for 13th Year
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – For the 13th year CASS camp will be giving children a creative way to spend their summer time.
The performing arts camp is being hosted at its new location at the Zanesville Girls Scout Service Center on Bowers Lane. CEO of the camp, Dr. Cassandra McDonald, said this camp teaches children valuable life lessons.
“Our camp has many divisions. We have orchestra, band, theater, art, and we have business,†said Dr. McDonald. “Because if you don’t have the foundation of business then that’s why you have the sign that says ‘Starving Artist.’ So we’re trying to make sure they are empowered in that area.â€
The camp kicked off Monday morning and runs through the rest of the week. However, Dr. McDonald said that children K-12 can still register.
Abbey Denman attends Tri-Valley Middle School and sings and plays clarinet. This is her third year as a member of the camp and says she looks forward to it every year.
“We do private lessons, so I sing and I do band and I love both of those things, and I just love all the people here,†said Denman. “They are just so sweet and I can just always talk to anybody. I want to come every year that I possibly can.â€
