Simi, Bubenchik win ZDGA Junior Amateur

Newark Catholic grad Ryan Simi and John Glenn senior Lexi Bubenchik came out on top in the ZDGA Junior Amateur at Vista Golf Course on Tuesday.

Simi won the boys championship with a two-day score of 142. The future Ohio Dominican Panther shot two-under 69 at Jaycees Golf Course and two-over 73 at Vista. He held off Tri-Valley’s Dalton Crowley and John Glenn’s Dylan Van Fossen.

Bubenchik rallied from a two-stroke deficit on Monday to card a cumulative score of 146, six strokes better than runner-up Joslyn Goins of Zanesville. The John Glenn senior shot a two-under 69 at Vista.
