Muskingum Rec Center to hold Fourth of July 5K
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – To help kickoff our nation’s Independence Day, the Muskingum Rec Center will be hosting a Red, White, and Run 5K.
The 5K will be the morning of the fourth of July and will take place on the ground of the OUZ campus. Rec center executive director Beth Chapman said they are preparing for a lot of runner this year.
“We hope to have over 200. Last year we had about 220. Each year we’ve grown,” said Chapman. “This is our fourth year. We enjoy the event because it is July 4 and we have people dress up in patriotic attire and just have a lot of fun with it. It’s been a wonderful community event.
To register for the run you can stop by the Muskingum Rec Center. Chapman said that many who participate in the patriotic race go all out for the event.
“We’ve had people dress up in red, white, and blue, people in tutus, and with full military attire. It runs the gamete,” said Chapman. “We also have kids that participate, it’s not just for adults. We do have people that brought their children in strollers. We really do the event to encourage activity.”
Registrations before July 2 is $25. The day of the event is $30.
