Meet Mimosa, The Pet of the Week

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Each week we like to feature a new furry friend as pet of the week.

Meet Mimosa, she is a two year old Maine Coon and came to the Animal Shelter Society in June as a stray. Executive Director, Jody Murray said you can add Mimosa to your family for 60 bucks.

"She’s very good with people, good with cats and dogs. She is about two years old, she has already had her surgery so she is basically ready to be adopted as always we encourage people to come in and spend some time with her bring the family bring the kids in," said Murray.

With the start to the 4th of July celebration Murray wants to remind pet owners to keep your pets comfortable during the fireworks do decrease the chances of them running away.

"Keeping your pet secure over the weekend even if you have a fenced in yard we would encourage you to when you are taking your pets out keep them on a leash," said Murry. "If they normally stay outside maybe bring them into the garage for the weekend. If you have indoor pets something you can do is have soft music playing to override the fireworks."

Murray said the most important thing you can do is make sure your animal has tags with updated contact information attached.
