Tire Dump Fire On Boggs Road

Washington and Perry township fire departments had their hands full with a tire dump fire Tuesday afternoon…

Fire Chief Gene Hanning said shortly after 4 p.m. crews responded to a tire dump on Boggs Road at the old "James and Sons" property. Hanning said it was fully engulfed when they arrived at the scene.

"As far as we know, this tire pile caught on fire, we don’t know why yet or how. It’s on the old James property, but that’s in bankruptcy, so we don’t know really who owns it now. We’ll work and figure that out later on and or the cause of the fire," said Hanning.

The blaze was contained within the hour. Hanning said the origin and cause are still under investigation.
