The First Pup Cup 5k & Pooch Walk

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Nealy 120 walkers and runners participated in the first ‘Pupcup 5K & 1.5 Mile Poochwalk’ earlier Saturday.

The event took place through the scenic streets and bike path of the Village of Dresden, Oh. Julie Bay said all proceeds raised at this event will support the mission of the Muskingum County Canine Advocates in building a new dog pound for the homeless dogs in the area.

"We’re very very please with all of the community support. Basically what our goal was from this event was to raise proceeds for the reconstruction to the building or renovation for the new Muskingum County Dog Pound. A new facility for the homeless dogs in our area," said Bay.

Bay said awards were issued to the top three overall male and female finishers. As well as the top three finishers in each age category.

"The awards are based on the top three males that come in and the top three females overall in the race and then we have the top three male and female from each age group," said Bay. "They’ll be receiving a trophy and or a metal for their participation and their success in the event."

Bay said they plan to host this event annually.
