A Father and Son’s Journey
It’s an unconventional mode of transportation with its own set of challenges and for two men their journey is far from over.
Sacco "The White Buffalo Hunter" and his son, Christopher, are making a cross country trip in a covered wagon pulled by horses, Buckshot and Beamer. Sacco began his trip in Washington D.C. and his son joined him in Accident, Md. For a man that’s worked with horses for 13 years the trip is an experience.
"I can’t imagine there’s too many gentleman and probably ladies as well that play with horses that doesn’t think of this as the K2 of horse riding," said Sacco. "It’s the biggest challenge as a horse driver. As somebody who drives horses, draft horses. It’s the biggest challenge to all of us, to get a team of horses across the country."
For this traveler the dream to drive a team of horses started at the age of 10.
"My grandpa had an old chuck wagon sitting in front of our packing plant in Colorado Springs, Co," said Sacco. "All of us 28 cousins would play on that thing like we were cowboys and indians. So, I thought dress up like a cowboy and drive a wagon across the country."
Sacco said the hope is to be home in Colorado in time for the buffalo roundup.
