New Fire Lieutenant Sworn In Wednesday
A Zanesville firefighter received a promotion Wednesday afternoon…
Roger "Doug" Hobson was sworn in as fire lieutenant for the Zanesville Division of Fire in a ceremony held at City Hall. Hobson said it was good to see a room full of people supporting his promotion.
"It makes me feel great. You know, and having our fellow firefighters here is the best thing. You know, I live with them a third of the year, so they’re my brothers. When I look around and see all the blue, it really makes me feel good," said Hobson.
Hobson has been with the fire department for 12 years. He said the fire department is moving in a positive direction, and he’s looking forward to the new responsibilities.
"It’ll be a while before I settle into the lieutenant’s position. Down the road, I, sure, I’d like to go higher. But right now I’m going to be taking care of the haz-mat team for the city of Zanesville and the fire department, and that’s one of my big obligations to the fire department."
Hobson said the promotion was a two-year process after completing his testing.
