Business Concerned During Culvert Repair

A local business is having some trouble with the construction taking place on Brandywine Boulevard…

A portion of the road in front of Zanesville Chiropractic was closed to fixed a collapsed culvert. Dr. Richard Shaw said that patients coming from Maple Avenue are confused as to how to get to the office. Some have parked and walked from the Brandywine Hospital for Pets.

"When your patients are walking that already have bad backs, it’s not probably a good idea. So all they need to know is, just so patients come around Maple. I think you got to go down by Lowe’s or Sam’s just to get back to our, this area now," said Shaw.

The current detour to the office is marked off of Northpointe Drive. Shaw said regular patients are aware of the temporary route, but newcomers may not be familiar.

"I assume it’s a simple problem to fix. So, all we really need is a sign just letting people know what’s going on, because this is going to be going on for a couple of months. And, I mean, it has to happen. But, this is just something that they’re working on… I hope."

WHIZ News spoke with Public Service Director Mike Sims. He said he specifically has not been contacted about additional signage and does not believe it is in the contractor’s plans to put up any signs. He said the chiropractic office can go through the zoning process to put up temporary signs on Maple Avenue.

Brandywine Blvd. between Fairway Lane and Northpointe Drive is expected to be closed for two months.
