The Lorena Sternwheeler soon to be sailing

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Lorena Sternwheeler is just a couple of weeks away from opening day on June 21st.
Chamber of Commerce Vice President, Kelly Ashby said the Lorena Sternwheeler is normally sailing by now, but minor repairs had to be made before it could sail. The Lorena is actually dry docked right now while repairs are underway, but Ashby said they should be finished soon.
We will start the Lorena Sternwheeler season June 21st and the Lorena did need to come out of the water before the 2019 season started, and just due to timing issues and getting everybody on the same schedule. Unfortunately, we had to push back the season
Ashby said the boat offers awesome dinner tours, twilight tours, student field trips, and recreational camps to go on. She said it is great to have the Lorena here, because the majority of people that go on the boat are not from here, making it a great tourist attraction.
“The majority of passengers that take advantage of the Lorena Sternwheeler come from outside of Muskingum County. We certainly have school groups that use the Lorena and we even have weddings and class reunions but truly more than 80 percent of the passengers that ride the Lorena Sternwheeler are traveling outside of Muskingum County and even several states away,” Ashby said.
Ashby said she is looking forward to the Lorena Sternwheeler getting back in the water because it’s something special in the community.
