Ribfest Cancelled This Year

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A popular Labor Day weekend event that has been running for 15 years, will not be making a comeback this time around.
The Solid Gold Ribfest offers to the community great food, live entertainment, and lots of fun. The proceeds from Ribfest are then dispersed back into the community by providing scholarships. The event was held in Downtown Zanesville for 10 years, after that it was moved to the Muskingum County Fairgrounds. Director of Economic Minority Business Resource Network, Ernest Bynum said after the move, they did not receive as much financial support through sponsorships.
“The support, we didn’t get as much support down at the Fairgrounds that we did Downtown. So we’re not going to be able to do it this year and a lot of fierce discussions amongst ourselves, but we’re not going to be able to do it this year,” he said.
Ribfest is the Minority Business Resource Network’s largest annual event and the idea was to bring the entire community together through good food. Bynum is hopeful they can work on bringing the event back next year.
“The conversations going on now about getting it back. Bringing other people in, that kind of thing. So we’ll see where it goes from here, but it’s really a good event and we’d really like to see the community have and keep for a long period of time,” said Bynum.
Bynum is open to discussions for planning Ribfest next year, if you would like to reach out and support, just go through the Solid Gold Ribfest Facebook page.
