ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Homeless Hands of Zanesville hosted their first ever Chili Cook-off this afternoon right here in Zanesville.

There were several different chili’s to try, as well as different desserts. They had awards for the best chili, the best dessert, and the best costume.

Homeless Hands of Zanesville President, Tammy Clark said “Fundraising is how we make money and help get these people off the streets. Help with paying rent, deposits, things like that, utilities, get identifications. Things like that, that the homeless need in order to get back on their feet. So, we typically run off of foundation grants and fundraisers.”

Clark said this is their first time having a chili cook-off and they plan on doing it down the road as well.

“Just to bring them together. Make some money to help get these guys off the street, bring everyone together, get to know these guys. It is very important here, so they will be here at 4:30 to eat,” said Clark.

Clark said thank you to everyone that came out to support the organization, and enjoy some chili.
