Local Produce Sold at Farmers Market

Although colder months are approaching, local produce is still available for purchase in Zanesville.
The Muskingum County Farmers Market will be open through the first Saturday of November, as the final harvest of the season takes place.
Jim Siegrist, of Siegrist Farms, says there are several varieties of produce being sold.
“We have apples and cider; and like Indian corn. Squash is still available; pumpkins. Some people still have peppers and tomatoes; it’s getting a little bit late for those.”
Purchasing locally sourced food can have many benefits for both the vendor and the consumer.
“It brings everybody out. We can talk to them; they can buy produce and stuff directly off of us. They know exactly where the food is coming from, and they can meet the person who grows it.”
The Farmers Market, located at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds, is held each Saturday; May through October, from 9 AM to 12 PM. Approximately 35 vendors are featured each week.
