Library Prepares Programs for Children

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – As Winter rolls around, the John McIntire
Library is preparing to host several programs for area children.
Kerrie Hrycko, with the library, says that to kick off the season,
the library will host an interactive viewing of the movie ‘Frozen’
on November 16 at 2 p-m.

“We’re doing
‘Interactive Frozen Movie’. So, that is a program where we’re
going to show the movie Frozen; and they get to react to different
parts of the film. Such as when Olaf gets up and dances, they’ll
get up and dance with him; like Marshmallow, when they see
Marshmallow—that kind of thing. So, its a good time.”

Several programs
center around promoting literacy; such as 1,000 Books by Kindergarten
and a teen and adult writing class. Hrycko says the programs serve an
important purpose in the community.

“It’s important
to have these types of programs because it allows for kids to
interact with literature; and it allows them to interact with their
communities and get to know new people. And see that this is a
community resource; so the library is very much out there. We’re
not just books; we have things like 3D printers, and computers, and
movies and music. And, we all enjoy these things; so the library’s
mission has always been to promote information, education and
recreation.”

The John McIntire
Library is located on North 5th Street in Zanesville.
