Ohio Olympians Compete

If you haven’t done so make sure you click on the Olympic link found on our webpage so that you can get up to date with all the standings and information concerning the events and the athletes involved. Here’s how some of our Ohio athletes are fairing at the games in London, England.

Jacob Wukie is an archer from Oak Harbor, Ohio. He won a silver medal as part of the archery team event.

Lebron James from Akron is part of Team USA basketball. They face Lithuania tomorrow after defeating Nigeria 156-73.

Terrell Gausha is from Cleveland. He fought in the middle weight division and beat Andranik Hakobyan of Armenia before losing to Vijender from India.

Rau’Shee Warren of Cincinnati is also a boxer. He fights in the bantamweight on Friday.

Scott Parsons is from Sylvania,Ohio. He failed to qualify for the men’s kayak.

Anna Tunnecliff is part of Team USA women’s Elliot 6 meter sailing team. They continue competition Saturday when they face Sweden and host country Great Britain.

Katie Bell from Upper Arlington dives in the 10m platform on August 8.

Abby Johnston won a silver medal in the 3m synchro dive. This is the first medal for Team USA in this sport. She is from Upper Arlington.

Lee Kiefer failed to medal in women’s foil fencing individual competition and in the team event Team USA failed to medal.

Keli Smith is from Oxford, Ohio and is a member of Team USA field hockey. They face New Zealand Saturday.

Kayla Harrison is competing in judo. She won a gold medal in the event. This is the first ever medal for the USA in the event.

Margot Shumway from Westlake takes part in the double sculls rowing events. They failed to medal.

Peter Graves is part of Team USA quadruple sculls. They failed to medal. Graves is from Cincinnati.

Heather Mitts the defender for Team USA soccer is from Cincinnati. The team has advanced to the quarterfinals with a 2-0 win over New Zealand. They will face the winner of Great Britain and Canada.

Nick Thoman won a silver medal Monday in the 200 meter backstroke. He lost to Matthew Grevers of the United States.

Bridget Franek participates in women’s steeplechase on August 4.

Erik Kynark will take part in men’s high jump on August 4.

Kibwe Johnson has qualified for the next round in the hammer throw.

A.G. Kruger will also take part in hammer throw on August 3.

Chantae McMillian is participating in the heptathon. She’s in 31st place after two events.

Tianna Madison qualified in her heat to advance in the 100m swimming. She is also a member of the 4×100 relay on August 9.

Holley Mangold will take part in 75k weight lifting on August 5. She is from Dayton.

Justin Lester is a greco-roman wrestler in the 66k. He competes August 12.

Tervel Dlagnev is taking part in freestyle wrestling 120k on August 11.
