Muskingum County Library System Implements Fine Free Week

Fine Free

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Christmas is nearly here and the Muskingum
County Library System is getting into the holiday spirit by giving
the community a gift at all local branches this week. Rob Cook, PR
Assistant at the Muskingum County Library System, says this week is
Holiday Fine Free Week at all branches throughout the county.

“All week long,
this week—every location in the Muskingum County Library System—we
will be having a fine free week. If you have an overdue item or
perhaps a lost item that you found, you can bring that back to any
library and we will forgive the fines on that all week long.”

Holiday Fine Free
Week will run through this Saturday. The Muskingum County Library
System has held similar programs in the past; such as the fine free
week held this past Autumn.

“We do this every
once in a while. We did one—another one—around October. We had
one; it went very well so we decided to do it again as sort of a gift
to the community. Come on in and get those fines forgiven.”

Library fines can
range from ten cents to the full cost of the overdue item. The branch
locations throughout the county will also be holding various holiday
themed programs leading up to Christmas. Branch locations include the
John McIntire Library in downtown Zanesville, the South Zanesville
branch, Duncan Falls, Roseville, Dresden, and the New Concord branch.
