George L. Sekel Jr

George L. Sekel Jr., 95, passed away on November 11, 2019 at his home in Sebring, Florida,. He was born on September 6, 1924, in Buffalo, Ohio to George and Anna Beros Sekel.
Sekel earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star while serving his country during World War II. During his service, he was captured and held prisoner of war. After the war, Sekel worked overseas as a diplomat for the U.S. Government in Turkey, Germany, Egypt and India. It was during that time that he met and married his wife, Dolores Mebus Sekel.
In addition to his wife, who died on September 6, 2002, Sekel was preceded in death by his parents George and Anna Sekel, brothers Michael, John, and Joseph, and several brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
Sekel is survived by his 96 year old sister, Mary Choma, his sister-in-law, Irene Sekel, many nieces and nephews, and his care-taker of many years, Lina Robinson, and her family.
Sekel will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, on January 21, 2020, at 11:00 a.m with full military honors. The Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring is assisting with arrangements.
