Water Training Facility To Come to Zanesville

A water association is hoping to expand in the Muskingum County area.

The Ohio Rural Water Association met with the county commissioners Thursday to discuss granting a right-of-way easement and expanding their training opportunities for Ohio water and wastewater professionals.

"We’re in the process now of building a training center on White’s Road which will accommodate anywhere from thirty to ninety people with the intention of bringing individuals in to train them in specific skills they need to operate water and wastewater plants," said Kevin Strang of the Ohio Rural Water Association.

The right-of-way easement will open up water service to the neighborhood on White’s Road and was approved by the commissioners. With the expanded classroom space they anticipate offering one to two trainings per week, some of which would be multiple day trainings

"They need a certain amount of training hours required by the regulatory agencies to maintain their licenses. So we’re going to provide a one-stop place out here right here in Zanesville where guys can come who need that type of training and be able to get it right here on-site." said Strang.

The commissioners accepted the report and said they would discuss the cost of the building and monthly expenses further before coming to a decision.
