Governor DeWine Hosts COVID-19 Virus Update

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine Thursday updated Ohioans on the COVID-19 pandemic. He announced the release of the final report of the Minority Health Strike Task Force. It has 34 recommendations on dismantling racism, removing public health obstacles, improving the social/economic and physical environments, and straightening data collection to better track disparities. You can find the report at coronavirus.ohio.gov.
The Governor also updated the Ohio Public Health Advisory System and announced that Muskingum County has moved into the Red Level 3 position which indicates very high exposure and spread of COVID-19. Last week Muskingum County registered at Level 2, which indicated increased exposure and spread of COVID-19.
The Governor was asked about a decision concerning high school football and other fall sports and indicated that it will likely be allowed to occur, but with some restrictions. DeWine said he will provide full details on Tuesday August 18th during his 2:00 pm update.
