Board of Elections Offers Answers on FAQs

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The Muskingum County Board of Elections is gearing up for the upcoming election season.
The final date to register to vote is October 5th, but there are more questions to be answered. Election specialist Cheryl West has information on how voters can cast their votes.
“There are three options a voter can use to cast their vote. The very first one is absentee, which means voting by mail. The second is voting in office, which begins October the sixth. They’ll be extended hours in evenings and weekends. For people who want more details they can call in to find out about that. And then of course there is the traditional way of voting which is voting at your local precinct on election day which is November 3rd.”
Absentee ballot requests forms are a hot button issue this election cycle, West wishes to clear the air on misconceptions.
“You wish to vote from home. You can take your time, you can do research on how you want to vote. Make sure you can cast your vote for the right person you’re interested in winning. There are several groups that are mailing out request forms, we really only need one correctly completed form for each voter if they’re interested in voting absentee.”
The board of elections is located in downtown Zanesville and can be reached for more questions by phone.
