CROOKSVILLE, Ohio- The Crooksville community lost one of its all-time greats on Wednesday (11/25). At just 51-years old, Greg Williams died from Covid-19 complications.

Williams, who graduated from Crooksville in 1988, held the Muskingum Valley League single-season receptions record for 23 years, thanks to 73 catches in the 1987 season.

After high school, Williams went on to play football at Wilmington College before he made his return back to Perry County.

Williams became an assistant coach on the Crooksville football team, then took his talents to Paul Culver Jr’s staff at Sheridan. Before ultimately making a return back to his alma mater.

Williams served as the Crooksville athletic director at one point and was Crooksville’s current softball coach.

So, Williams was quite familiar with the MVL and the MVL was certainly familiar with him. Plenty of schools in the MVL have shown their support for the Williams family and the Crooksville community via social media.

Greg’s best friend, is Crooksville’s current football head coach, Casey Vallee, who coach softball with Williams as both a head coach and an assistant.

And the same can be said for the football team.

When willams was the head coach, Vallee was his assistant. When Vallee took over the football program, Williams became his assistant.

The two have a bond that goes way back.

Hear from Vallee in the video above.
