MCLS Showing Documentary for Black History Month

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio-The Muskingum County Library System is showing the documentary “Black Men in White Coats” in February.
The documentary is all part of the library’s plans to celebrate Black History Month. Director of Marketing and communication
“That documentary explores the reasons why in 2014 less black men applied to medical school than they did in 1978. This film is going to explore some of the reasons behind that and how we might be able to, as a community, come together and help solve some of the issues surrounding why more black men aren’t applying to medical school,” said Marketing and Communication Director Sean Fennell.
Dr. Keith Brantley from Genesis Health Services will facilitate a discussion after the viewing. MCLS sees the film as important viewing for the community at large.
“We think it’s important to honor and celebrate all members of our community and Black History Month is a very important month so we wanted to find ways to engage our local community to really find ways to see this from a local perspective as well,” Fennell continued.
Registration for the event can take place on the library’s website and the event will be held on February 9th.
