Z.A.A.P. Gallery Featured Artist
The Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project has introduced this month’s First Friday featured artist.
Kiyoe Howald’s artistic skills date back to middle school in Japan but it wasn’t until she retired that she looked for opportunities to study art. Shortly after taking a watercolor class, she discovered Z.A.A.P. but she is always looking for more workshops and classes to further her talents.
"I started with watercolor, take classes for a couple years then I quit then I started trying this and that, if somebody has classes, I take somebody’s classes," said Howard.
Her willingness to experiment has led to have a range of subjects and style, her artwork ranges from abstract to landscapes.
"I like the idea of the waterfall. I plan on continuing to do that. That’s probably my favorite, the waterfall is," said Howald.
Howald’s art has been accepted for exhibit at the Ohio State Fair. She has also exhibited throughout southeast and central Ohio, her work has won many awards.
