Genesis chosen as a Mega site for COVID-19 vaccine distribution

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Muskingum County has been touted as having one of the highest vaccination rates in the state. 

Genesis Healthcare System has been the chief administrator of the vaccine for the area. Recently the state of Ohio has designated Genesis as a mega distributor. 

“We’re excited to announce that Genesis has been identified as one of fifteen mega-sites throughout the state of Ohio for the vaccination distribution going forward. That means that on March 29th the Genesis Vaccination center will begin single shot vaccinations. We’ll be able to do 2,500 per week.”, Genesis CEO Matt Perry said of the designation.

Genesis has set up their chief vaccination site at the old Elder Beerman’s department store. The site’s efficacy has been the chief reason for the county’s success. 

“The Genesis Vaccination Center, what makes it really really good, and a great experience for our patients, is our staff. We’ve got about 25 dedicated staff who are here and the process that we designed makes it really efficient for people who only take thirty minutes to get it all done… It feels really, really good to be one of the best counties in the state as far as vaccination rates. It just means that our community is supporting our efforts to get people vaccinated.”, Perry continued about his staff.

As of March 18th almost 25% of all Muskingum County residents had received at least the first dose of a cOVID-19 vaccine.
