Library Welcomes New Mascot

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The John McIntire Library is welcoming a brand new member to its team.

Hoobert the owl is the library’s mascot who was originally created digitally with the help of the community. Now, Hoobert is able to take part in events and come to the library in person.

“I think that Hoobert’s big role is going to be encouraging children to visit the library…Hoobert is going to serve as an ambassador to the community for the library to encourage children to come in, pick up a book, learn, engage in programming and just get excited about reading, learning, and visiting their local library,” Marketing and Community Relations Director Sean Fennell said.

Hoobert is very passionate about the library and everything it has to offer. Hoobert loves video games, audio books, STEM, and summer reading. Hoobert will be making special appearances at specific events throughout the year.

“I think we’re just excited to really welcome people to the library and make sure you come in and visit, and maybe you’ll get a glimpse of Hoobert and Hoobert will be visiting, not just the John McIntire Library, but all of our branches, so he’ll be throughout the county,” Fennell said.

Be sure to follow the Muskingum County Library System on social media to see when Hoobert will be making appearances.
