MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The Muskingum Iron and Metal Company will be hosting community events and offering special pricing this Earth Day.

Earth Day is on April 22 and Muskingum Iron and Metal wants to give back and raise awareness on the importance of recycling. Throughout the month, all four Zanesville Elementary and Intermediate Schools along with Maysville Elementary have been collecting aluminum cans. Muskingum Iron and Metal will write the schools a check for the cans collected and match an additional $500 per school.

“Aluminum cans is just one part of the whole recycling chain, but it’s kind of something everybody knows and everybody has, so it’s a good start to get people to learn about recycling,” President of Muskingum Iron and Metal Josh Joseph said.

The school that recycles the most cans will receive a pizza party donated by Adornetto’s. Customers can also expect a special price for aluminum cans starting April 19 through the entire week. They are also partnering with the Animal Shelter Society on Earth Day.

“We kind of have a theme here, we want to give back to the community. So, we will allow you to donate the proceeds of your recycling, and we will then donate those to the Animal Shelter,” Joseph said.
