Eastside Community Ministries Awarded Grant for new Clothing Garage

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- Eastside Community Ministries was one of thirty organizations to receive a grant through the Straker Charitable Foundation.
The $50,000 grant award will go towards its new clothing garage project. The new building will allow the community to stop by, shop and drop off donations.
“We currently have a free clothing bank and anyone that has ever dropped off donations or visited our clothing bank knows that we’re really short on space. This is a project we wanted to do for a while now,” Executive Director Jamie Trout said.
Currently, volunteers sort and fold clothes upstairs at Eastside and then transport everything downstairs where people can shop. The new building will help keep everything in one area. Trout said a few more details are being sorted out but they hope to have the project finished this year.
“To receive $50,000 from the Straker Foundation is a huge compliment to our ministry and it just shows how much people believe in what we do. This is going to open up some big opportunities to be able to serve our neighbors even better then we do now,” Trout said.
