Mystery Box Sale located at John McIntire Library

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The John McIntire Friends of the Library volunteer group put together a mystery box sale for those who would like to expand their reading options in a convenient way.
Typically, the Friends of the Library accept book donations to add to the Library’s bookstore. In addition, they add items from the libraries collection. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the bookstore is closed.
“With all these materials coming in, we could not share them with the community, so the Friends of the Library came up with an area to have a mystery box sale. This sale is just donation based. Customers can come in and put money in our donation box, whatever they feel is deemed necessary,” MCLS Outreach Services Manager Beth Brown said.
The mystery box sale started last week during teacher appreciation week. After receiving positive feedback and success, the group decided to host it again.
“Many people are probably wondering, how many books are in each box and what is in each box, and that is part of the mystery box sale. Depending on the items, whether there are juvenile materials or adult materials, the number in the boxes vary… Everyone who has received the boxes finds something in there of interest,” Brown said.
Community members can come to the library lobby during operating hours and check out the sale.
