Animal Shelter Society partners with We Luv Pets for Pet of the Week

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Animal Shelter Society has featured three cats for its pet of the week.

In partnership with We Lov Pets, the shelter brings in three pets at a time for customers to have the opportunity to adopt them from the pet store. Laupurr, Bonnie and Poldark are the current cats at the store.

“It’s very important for the shelter to be successful and have community partners. One of our favorites is We Lov Pets… These folks do this, there’s no payment to them. We Lov Pets does this as a community involvement and that’s what we’re all about,” Animal Shelter Society General Manager April Cohagen-Gibson said.

The adoption process is the same as it would be if a customer would adopt from the shelter. All the funding comes back to the shelter. 

“I would say having the cats here is a great addition. For instance, we have one that came here very shy and just being here around the customers, playing with them and such it got her to where she’s now very adoptable because she’s outgoing now. Being able to work with them is really important too,” We Lov Pets Manager Miranda Cartwright said.

The Animal Shelter Society will be hosting a microchip event on Saturday, June 26. The event will be from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the shelter. Pre-registration isn’t required and it costs $16. Cohagen-Gibson added it’s a quick and easy process and it’s very important to reunite lost pets to their owners.

Dog licenses are due July 1 which will also be available at the event.
