DRESDEN, Ohio- Because Independence Day occurred on a Sunday this year, many organizations, institutions, and businesses are observing the holiday today and took the day off.

With temperatures rising into the 90s for the fourth time this summer, today made for a perfect day to cool off at the Dresden Swim Center. Some swimmers when asked why they are at the pool today had this to say:

“Because it’s really hot outside and we’re just here to cool off in the pool,” Addie Conely, a visitor to the Dresden Swim Center said.

“It’s more stuff to do and not just you and your family. There’s more people here to talk to,” Logan McClellan, also a visitor to the swim center stated.

Two girls who have been friends since kindergarten said they usually beat the heat at home by playing on a slip-n-slide, but were at the pool today to enjoy its activities and amenities.

“Well we mostly like going down the slides and off the diving board because we just kinda like have fun there and kinda like introduce our inner kid, so that’s what we mostly like about it. And we can just spend time together and have fun,” Nora Neff, a visitor to the center said. “…and you know there’s life guards everywhere so say if someone was drowning, they’d save them,” Nora’s bestfriend, Braelynn Murrey, added.

We’re expected to see temperatures in the 90s again tomorrow, and if you’d like to cool off, the Dresden Swim Center will be open from 11-7PM throughout the summer.
