U.S. Senate Candidate JD Vance Makes Campaign Stop in Zanesville

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A Republican candidate who’s running for a United State’s Senate seat in Ohio made a campaign stop in Zanesville Wednesday.
A self-described political outsider, best-selling author, and former Marine, JD Vance is looking to fill the United States Senate seat soon to be vacated by Rob Portman who is retiring.
“I’m running for the senate because I think that the country has not been governed effectively -and not just for the past six months- but the past 30 or 40 years. And we basically have a situation where the people in charge of this country, I think, have gotten very wealthy off of it. They’ve plundered the country that our parents and grandparents built, and if you dare complain about it, they call you names. They call you a racist, a xenophobe, a bigot if you don’t like the crisis at the Southern border, if you don’t like the fact that a lot of our manufacturing jobs have gotten shipped overseas. And so I think normal people just need somebody to stand up, represent their interests, and fight for them in DC, and that’s what I want to do in D.C. as a senator,” JD Vance, a candidate for U.S. senate stated.
JD Vance was born and raised in Middletown, Ohio -this setting and his upbringing in Appalachia was what inspired his memoir, Hillbilly Elegy book, which was later turned into a Netflix movie. He hopes to reignite the rust belt and create opportunities for Americans they once enjoyed in a time gone by.
“I think long-term we have to rebuild the entire industrial base in this country. We have to make it possible for middle-class people without a college degree to actually work in this economy, and to do that you have to have a solid manufacturing base,” Vance said.
Vance is also a graduate of The Ohio State University and Yale Law School. For more information on JD Vance, his campaign, and what he stands for, you can head to his website JDVance.com.
