Swackhammer Marilyn

Marilyn L. Swackhammer, 90, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Genesis Morrison House, surrounded by her family. Marilyn was born in New Lexington, Ohio, the daughter of Harry A and Mary Ann (McGreevy) Core on January 8, 1931. She married Joe Dale Swackhammer on November 26, 1951, and was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister who was dedicated to raising her family. As her youngest children started high school she started volunteering at Starlight School and was eventually hired and retired from there. Upon her retirement she enjoyed her grandchildren and their activities. She was a very active member of the Rosecrans Athletic Booster.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters: Linda (Tim) Curtis, Emilie (Scott Morehead) Kohler both of Zanesville. Sons: Mark (Cindy) of Zanesville, David (Heather) of Cabot Arkansas, James (Audrey) of Columbus, and Kevin (Susan) of Zanesville.

Grandchildren: Stephanie (Josh) Watkins, Jennifer (Gregg) Garman, Angela Murphy, Christine (Tim) Paul, Andrea (Richard) Stevens, Melissa (Shawn) Antritt, Ryan (Kelly) Kohler, Josh (Jaclyn) Kohler, Austin and Dillon Swackhammer, Kyle and Connor Swackhammer, Tyler (Kailee) Swackhammer, and Samantha Swackhammer.

Great Grandchildren Reese and Cooper Watkins, Gannon and Emerson Garman, Vada and Mabry Murphy, Payton and Everett Paul, Aliyah Swackhammer and Ethan Stevens, Kinsley Kohler, Cameron Kohler, Charlotte Swackhammer.

One brother: Stephen Core, and sisters-in-law: Ruby Core, and Charlene Core.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Joe, brothers and sisters-in-law Andrew Core, Richard (Shirley) Core, David Core, Charles (Barbara) Core, Penny Core, Robert and Gladys (Swackhammer) Snider.

Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 7, 2021, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 2:00 PM, Friday, October 8, 2021, at St. Nicholas Church with Fr. Martin J. Ralko as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery at Mattingly Settlement. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Morrison House in Marilyn’s memory.
