Barbara J. Gessel
Barbara J. Gessel, 72 of Zanesville, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 29, 2021, while at Genesis Hospital.
Barb was born in Zanesville on December 9, 1948. She is the daughter of the late Herschel J. and Willa L. (Pinkley) Harper. Barb worked for Ramsbottom Pottery for many years. She loved playing bingo, traveling with her sister, and playing games on her phone, but most especially, she loved spending time with her family.
Barb is survived by her daughters, Sherry (Wayne Sherman) Gessel and Angela (Mark) Hayes; her grandchildren, Shannan (Billy) Bevens, Dustin (Sadie Humphreys) Coen, Judy (Pete) Bishop, Tiffany Newland, Bryan Gessel, Brandon Hultgren, Gracie Hayes, and Alli Sherman; her twenty-one great-grandchildren; her sisters, Dorothy Thomas and RuthAnn (John) Huff; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Barb is preceded in death by her husband of over twenty years, Roger Gessel, who passed away October 26, 2018; and her brother, Carl Harper.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 am. Pastor Chris Steele will officiate the service. Barb will be laid to rest in Duncan Falls Cemetery.
