Connie Sue “Bunny” Hand

Connie Sue “Bunny” Hand, 58, of Newark, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Novermber 27, 2021. She preferred the name “Bunny”. She was born August 27, 1963 in Zanesville, Ohio. Connie was a graduate of John Jay High School in San Antonio, Texas, as well as the San Antonio College of Medical and Dental Assistants. Her career included phlebotomy, surgical technician and working with the disabled. Connie was fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), able to read Braille and a certified lifeguard. She was active in the Main Place and various local churches in Newark.
Connie is survived by her mother and step-father, Sharon (Cowan) and Donald Oliver; sister, Carol (Hand) and Chad Hutchins; nephews, Sean and Andrea (Ethan) Hutchins, of Fort Benning, Georgia, and Alex Hutchins, of Zanesville; her special cats, Nosey and Rosey; her extended Dilley family; as well as friends and those whose lives she touched.
Connie is preceded in death by her beloved son, Joshua Allen Hand (December 25, 1985 – March 22, 1986, whom she lost to SIDS) “Whom The Son sets free – is free indeed.”; her father, Richard A. Hand; and her grandparents. They will be joined together again.
Per the family’s wishes, no services will be observed and a cremation with care will take place. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery in Zanesville. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
