Homeowner Prepares for Traditional Holiday Light Show

Dobbins Light Show, Dec 18th

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- For over five decades, the Dobbins Light Show has been presented throughout the Muskingum County community.

Michelle Dobbins, Coordinator of the Light Show, said that she took it over the show after her father, who would decorate over six acres of his property. The theme this year is “Light in the Darkness” with approximately one acre of property decorated for the show.

“Christmas is all about Jesus so my favorite piece to display is most definitely the nativity scene. He is the gift and the reason for the season, but most of all is to give back to our community is the whole reason why we do it,” Dobbins stated.

The light show will have a Santa Claus appearance with his bag full of candy canes, hot chocolate and about 600 cookies made by Dobbins and more.

“I’ve been supported by Wendy’s this year and they’ve donated frosty coupons for the kids, then MBH, which is the Muskingum Behavioral Health, they’ve donated gift bags, and I’m going to do some coloring books and crayons,” Dobbins said. “God had put on my heart this year as well to do some hats and gloves for the kids. You just don’t know what families and kids might show up that doesn’t have any gloves and hats. So that’s a big concern. Evidently, God had put on me to do that so that’ll be another big part of what I’m going to do this year.”

Dobbin shared her experiences throughout the years and says how she is always shocked to see all the cars lined up each year. The light show will be December 18th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. located at 4380 Schimoda Lane.
