Stephanie Jane Hoover McCalister, 62, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Adams Lane Care Center. Born March 17, 1959 in Kensington, England, her parents Pastor David F. and Janet Phillips Hoover brought the family to the states, where Stephanie grew up in Ohio. After high school graduation, Stephanie served our country for over twenty years in the United States Air Force. As flight engineer on C-5 Galaxy cargo planes, she traveled the world during her AF service, retiring as a Master Sergeant. She was part of the first all-female flight crew during wartime, and with her crew, honored at Dayton Air Force Museum. Stephanie spent her years out of service helping veterans across the nation receive aid and support they needed for any situation they were in. Her resourcefulness was unmatched and her spirit was infectious. She fought cancer with courage and strength for two years and she will be greatly missed by her family and many many friends.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughters: Janet Rivers and Alyssa Hoover; her grandchildren: Caspian, Cooper and Charley; her husband: Michael McCalister; three brothers: Tony Hoover, David Hoover and Lee Hoover; and a sister: Melanie Hoover.

She was preceded in death by her father, David F. Hoover.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
