Paws of Muskingum County Spay Neuter Assistance Program is Preparing for Annual Christmas Auction

Paws Of Muskingum County Spay Neuter Assistance Program Christmas Auction

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- Another year has come around and the Paws of Muskingum County Spay Neuter Assistance Program is taking action with their annual Christmas Auction

Due to COVID-19, again there won’t be the well-known delicious cookies, but the auction will still go on as the proceeds will go towards spay neuter services for seniors, the disabled, veterans and low income families of Muskingum County.

The program broke the record this year of 1,400 to 1,500 dogs and cats spayed and neutered and hope to have more than that for this coming new year, according to Teresa Hildebrand, President of Paws of Muskingum County Spay Neuter Assistance Program.

“Next year we have two mobile units coming in and there’s going to be 24 mobile clinics coming to Muskingum County. With the blessing of the Washington Township Fire Department and Gean Hanning, they’re going to give us the use of their station and free of charge for this community project,” Hildebrand stated.

Getting the dogs and cats spayed and neutered is so beneficial to many families, however, this year the program found a need to expand their services to the stray cats in the community.

“We’re also branching out this year and taking on what we call community cat population. Those are the stray that live outside your house that everybody feeds, but nobody takes care of, actually when I say take of I mean spay and neuter,” Hildebrand said. “Those cats produce the majority of kitten that flood our shelters every year and if we don’t reach that population, we’ll never get to the bottom of this.”

There will be a silent auction, a Chinese auction, and a rummage sale with price marked items.

Hildebrand said if you want to be a part of the spay neuter assistance program, please call at 740-221-7278. The Christmas Auction will take place tomorrow at the Leasure Masonic Park Building on Northpointe Drive from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
