MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- Ohio University Zanesville (OUZ) and Scholarship Central will be hosting an in-person and virtual FAFSA Help Night.

Scholarship Central, which is connected with Muskingum County Community Foundation (MCCF) has been offering FAFSA help for a while and plans to partner with OUZ providing useful resources to local high school and college students, says Heather Sands-Davis, Campus Communicator at OUZ.

“A lot of scholarship deadlines and priority deadlines will be January 31st so to be eligible for scholarships through the regional campuses through Ohio University, our deadline will be January 31st to apply and submit your FAFSA so we’re offering this one this Thursday to give students a last minute chance and even if their not sure where there going to go, it’s a good opportunity to make sure you turn in all your paperwork,” Sands-Davis stated.

To help with the process, Sands-Davis said both parent and student should have their 2020 W-2 forms, 2020 federal tax returns, 2020 untaxed income records, social security numbers, and birth dates.

Students also have the chance to win a scholarship from OUZ and other raffle prizes while attending the FAFSA Help Night.

“Any student that is a new Ohio University Zanesville student in the fall of 2022, they can win a $250 dollar scholarship just for attending. We will also waive any application fees,” Sands-Davis said. “If they come in and haven’t applied yet, we can help waive their application fees for the college campuses and then if their a current college student and need to submit their FAFSA and say they’re going to a different University, and they are not planning to go here in the fall, we have t-shirts, swag, all kinds of different information from Ohio University swag that we’re going to be raffling off.”

FAFSA Help Night is free to all students and will be held on January 27th and February 10th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ohio University Zanesville in Elson Hall.

To register for a virtual FAFSA meeting, students can set up a time with an advisor online at scholarshipcentral.org.
