MCCF Prepares for Online Only Annual Groundhog Day Celebration

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- Groundhog Day is tomorrow and the Muskingum County Community Foundation (MCCF) will still be holding their Groundhog Day Celebration online only.
Tomorrow is the last day to place a bid on 150 auction items as the window will close at noon.
Brian Wagner, the Chief Executive Officer of MCCF, talked about what type of items and other options participants can expect.
“We’ve got artworks that are available, we’ve got a commission piece by Mary Ann Bucci that’s available, if you would like to have a chef come and cook a meal at your place. Also, doing an outdoor barbeque so if there’s something that you want to do later in the summer that you can do. So we have some unique pieces as well,” Wagner stated.
Other items that are up for auction are like tickets to local theater groups and reprinted posters that were done by Frank Lloyd Wright.
There is also still time to go online and place a donation vote on the traditional MCCF groundhog name.
“You can name our groundhog. We have someone who’s been going out as our groundhog, but we don’t have a name for the groundhog so you can go and you can make a donation towards the naming of our groundhog and there’s one of four different names that you can choose from, and whichever one receives the most donations is what our groundhog will be called,” Wagner said.
The groundhog raffle will still go on to be held live on the MCCF Facebook page this Friday at 5:00 p.m. Participants can purchase their raffle tickets by going to mccf.org, where all items are valued at at least $1,000. Participants can also find the auction items online as well.
Wagner said even though the celebration is not in person this year, he is hoping for a great online turn out as all proceeds do go back into the community for their Spring Grant Competition.
