State of Emergency in Perry County

Perry County Emergency

Perry County is now under a state of emergency. EMA Director Rita Spicer said the declaration was made by the County Commissioners and is due to the number of power outages and ice storm damage.

Spicer said the southern part of Perry County is without power and cellphone service in some areas. She said all county’s township roads and county roads have problems. She said the state highways are now open and free of debris.

The American Red Cross will have a shelter open starting at 4:00 pm located at the New Lexington High School, for those residents of Perry County who are affected by the winter storm. Limited transportation will be available to those in need provided by Perry County Transit by calling this number, 740-721-0700
