MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- There are so many women that have made multiple contributions within the Muskingum community.

So many, that the Muskingum Family Y is looking to recognize some of these women through their 34th Annual Women of Achievement Awards.

According to Heather Sands-Davis, Campus Relations and Community Coordinator at Ohio University Zanesville (OUZ), the Muskingum Family Y established the program in 1988, but now partners with OUZ and Zane State College to acknowledge women who achieve a level of excellence in their particular field of endeavor.

“So if you know someone that you think would be a great candidate and would like to nominate them, nominees must be received by 5:00 p.m. on February 23rd for this year’s Women of Achievement Award. We all know that women in the community have made a difference in our lives,” Sands-Davis stated. “Someone maybe like a teacher that has impacted you, a professional that maybe you just ran into that made a big impact on your life or maybe you also know a young person that is volunteering in the community or a high school student that is a part of your church or youth group or someone that is giving back.”

Sands-Davis said there will be an in person banquet this year held at Zane State later in May where the honorees will be inducted into the Academy of Women of Achievement along with the continued celebration of the 2020 recipients who were honored virtually due to COVID.

“We have a great community and it’s a great opportunity for women to be honored and the group that is planning this, we have a wonderful steering committee, selection committee and everyone. So we’re just thankful for all their hard work,” Sands-Davis said.

There’s a total of seven different awards that the candidate can qualify for and they do not have to be limited to one award. A panel of judges that consist of past recipients and community leaders will select the honorees. Candidates will be notified around mid March.

To submit a nomination form, please visit at www.zanestate.edu/WOA. Participants are able to view the description for each award and provide no more than four additional pages supporting the nominee’s story.
