Memorial Service at Zane State College in Honor of Former President Paul Brown

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- Former Zane State President, Dr. Paul Brown, who passed away following a plane crash near Heath is being celebrated today at Zane State College Campus Center during a memorial gathering.
Dr. Paul Brown was the fifth president of Muskingum Area Technical College and Zane State College from 2004 to 2015.
According to Dr. Chad Brown, current President of Zane State College, the memorial will consist of loved ones who will speak about Dr. Paul Brown and his memorable legacy.
“Today’s memorial service is certainly a somber event, but at the same time it is bittersweet in that we get to celebrate the life and legacy of a great man and a great friend,” Dr. Chad Brown stated. “I look forward to connecting with people as we laugh and share memories about Dr. Brown.”
Dr. Chad Brown said Dr. Paul Brown helped him understand how shaping and caring for the culture of people first is the most important role on campus.
“When I think about Dr. Brown’s legacy, there are many aspects to it. One of the things that I note most about him was his ability to go after a goal. He would set goals and he would work tirelessly to achieve them and he invited everybody else, and in fact inspired everybody else to work alongside him,” Dr. Chad Brown said. “So I think the success of the college during his tenure certainly will be a legacy, but I think probably the most important legacy at least for me is he taught me the importance of valuing the employees and the contribution they make above all else.”
During Dr. Paul Brown’s tenure, Zane State College demonstrated a 70 percent growth in student enrollment, job placement rates of 98 percent, established institutions and centers and much more.
The memorial service is held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Dr. Paul Brown’s brother, Senator Michael Brown is scheduled to speak around 6:30 p.m. and then later on there will be a veterans recognition for Dr. Paul Brown’s service in the air force.
