NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms on an extension with Pro Bowl linebacker Harold Landry III, according to a person with direct knowledge of the deal.

The Titans declined to use the franchise tag on Landry earlier Tuesday before the NFL deadline and agreed to terms on the new deal Tuesday night, according to the person who spoke to The Associated Press on terms of anonymity because the deal has not been announced.

Landry reportedly agreed to a five-year extension worth $87.5 million with $52.5 million guaranteed.

The linebacker was a second-round pick by Tennessee at No. 41 overall out of Boston College in 2018. He just posted a career-high 12 sacks, ranking 10th in the NFL in 2010 and earning his first Pro Bowl nod.

Landry is part of a defense that ranked ninth with 43 sacks and was the NFL’s only unit featuring three players with at least eight sacks. Denico Autry had nine sacks and Pro Bowl lineman Jeffery Simmons had a career-high 8 1/2. The Titans had just 19 sacks in 2020 before adding Autry and Bud Dupree as free agents.
