An Untold Truth; Archives of the People, Volume 1’ is Now Available

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- You can now receive a copy of the anticipated booklet ‘Archives of the People,’ highlighting the history of Zanesville’s Black community.
The first volume of the book celebrated its release this afternoon at the Civic League Community Center. Flora Martin, a member of the Minority Business Resource Network that put the group together says that she hopes the booklet will impact the youth.
Martin went on to tell us, “and to let our young people see that yes, people that look like them and are like them have made a difference and they’ve come through a lot of areas and they’ve done a lot of things to make things better for them today.”

People from all over the community came to learn about the impactful African Americans in the booklet that may have otherwise been forgotten. Even though the piece highlights African Americans, Flora does hope that the entire community feels together as a whole.
“To help this community thrive and to grow, and to be a part of the world that they’re living in so that were all united in some way or some form or fashion,” said Martin.
While this is the 1st Volume of the booklet, Volume 2 is already ready to be printed, and Volume 3 is in its beginning stages. The hope is that the Zanesville African American community will continue to be highlighted and that their history is never forgotten.
