Body Recovered from Licking River

The Newark Police Department said a body was found along the south fork of the Licking River Sunday afternoon.

It took place around 2:15pm. The Newark Fire Division and EMS along with officers responded to the scene and located an unknown adult male deceased in the river.

Detectives were called and are investigating to determine the identity of the male and to make appropriate notification to the family. Foul play is no suspected at this time.

The body was taken to the Licking County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the identity and cause of death.
