Small but Mighty, Meet Athena, This Week’s Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – How cute is this week’s Animal Shelter Society’s ,‘Pet of the Week?’

Meet Athena, she is 3 years old and was brought to the shelter in March. 

She is a Dachshund Pug mix, and is the perfect sized lap dog.

Jody Spencer, the Senior Vice President of Trusted Investments with Park National Bank, and proud sponsor of the Animal Society told us that Athena does great with everyone, “She gets along great with children, adults, and even seeing her with the cats at the shelter. The other dogs and the cats, she does really really good,” he went on to tell us.

Athena can be described as sweet, happy, and an active little pup.

April Cohagen-Gibson, the Animal Shelter Society’s general manager says Athena and other pups like her are helped a lot with sponsors like Park National Bank, that participate in ‘Yappy Hour.’

“Its a great time at the Zanesville Country Club. It is Thursday the 21st, 6pm to 8:30. So that’s how we make it here, this is how we’re able to help animals like Athena is due to our fundraisers. And it is our first one of the year,” Cohagen-Gibson told us.

There will be 4 local chefs preparing food, and the event is predicted to be a fun time full of giving back. There will also be about 16-18 auction items and entertainment.
