Zane Grey Family Day at Zane Grey Museum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Zane Grey Family day officially kicked off their start of Museum season this afternoon!

It was held at the Zane Grey and Nation Road museum from noon until 4 pm today.

It was a family event, with the focus on Zane Grey and his life during the time he spent in the area.

Betsy Taylor, the educational director of the museum says that there were many historic games played.

“So we have games, up on the hill, which we bean bag toss, egg and spoon race, and things of that nature. And we also have music of the kind that Zane Grey would’ve enjoyed. And we have beading, necklaces and bracelets as Native Americans would have done it because Zane Grey spent a lot of time with Native Americans,” Taylor said.

There is a 135 foot diorama in the building of National road and its impact on the country.

The event is meant to help people learn while they have a good time, Taylor also told us. “Its really important to let the community know that we’re here and that we are welcoming them for entertainment and also education.”

Different types of pottery and its historic importance to Zanesville was also highlighted.

The public is encouraged to visit both the Zane Grey Museum as well as the Annie and John Glenn museum.
