Zanesville Organizations to Celebrate Annual Veterans Appreciation Weekend

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Veterans Appreciation Foundation will be holding their Annual Veterans Appreciation Weekend fundraiser this weekend to honor and support local veterans.
Veterans Appreciation Foundation Treasurer Steve Galloway, VAF Board Member Becky Joseph and The Barn Owner Jim Watson explained what the VAF does and how they are involved in this weekend’s events.
“The Veterans Appreciation Foundation exists to enhance and enrich the lives of veterans in the Muskingum County area by doing projects such as funding the banner project you see downtown that looks wonderful,” Joseph said. “Also sending veterans on the Honor Flights. We do that by raising money and then putting money back into things that enrich the lives of veterans in our community.”
This weekend’s events will kick off Friday at noon, with the Daughters of the American Revolution hosting a picnic for veterans at the American Legion. Saturday’s activities will begin at 8 a.m. by serving veterans breakfast at The Barn. A fundraising auction will follow at noon, followed by live music that will start at 2 p.m.
“We’re going to get to appreciate some veterans with an amazing breakfast,” Watson said. “We’re going to cook everything up, it will be fresh and amazing. It will be a really nice breakfast for all the vets. The second thing, We get to interact and have fellowship with those veterans and talk to them about their stories and learn about their service and all those kind of things. It’s just great to have the opportunity to appreciate them for giving us the freedom to be able to do these types of things.”
Sunday’s annual golf outing is one of the organization’s biggest fundraisers and will take place at the Green Valley Golf Club but registration to enter the event is already full.
