Chandlersville Citizen Spends 29 Years Building Enormous Christmas Village

CHANDLERSVILLE, OH – It’s the holiday season and many homes are decorated with wreaths, Christmas inflatables, lights, and trees. But Martha Adkins took decking the halls to the next level.
Chandlersville citizen, Martha Adkins, has her entire patio decorated with a miniature, yet enormous, Christmas village. It all started in her living room in 1993. Adkins has spent 29 years collecting different pieces and accessories that ties this village together.
Adkins said there’s too many pieces to count, but almost every piece has its own backstory that gives a sentimental feeling.
“I get to share it with everybody. Like I said people bring me new pieces, they bring me some pieces of their own family. It’s everybody’s village and that’s fun.” Adkins stated
She’s right, it is everybody’s village. From animals, to trains, to even a replica of Toms Ice Cream Bowl, there’s a piece that’ll bring a smile to everyone. Adkins explains what her favorite part of putting the village on display is every year:
“Just knowing how much fun it is and how much joy it brings to everybody.” Adkins said.
While it takes Adkins and her friends about 2 weeks to set it all up, it’s her time and dedication that allows the joy to be spread, and for this beautiful Christmas village to come to life.
